LDR 101 For Girls - Dealing With Guys

In long distance relationships, we almost always hear advices that are mostly geared towards the girls. Or did you not notice it? Probably this time you have realized it. Are you wondering why this is so? This is probably because the girls are most of the time the ones seeking advice about relationships. More often than not, girls tend to "offer more" in relationships than men.
So yes, it has long been a stereotype that the girls are the ones who "have it difficult" in relationships. Some say that guys have it easy while most would say that guys essentially "don't care", as long as they have won over the girl they like. It may seem stereotypical and biased as I am a girl, but people aren't wrong when they say that. They've got some basis, after all. However, this is not applicable to every single guy out there.
Even though we've got this perception that girls care as much about relationships the same way guys care about cars, it doesn't mean to say that guys do not put value into their relationships. They actually do. They're just not too showy about it.
Like the guys, we should take into consideration a few things when getting into a long distance relationship. For instance, guys get told off to be more patient with girls whenever we're getting a little bit cranky. Maybe it's just their period, some might say. Girls, on the other hand, impose that very same excuse (because at times, that's what it really is) to get the guys to shut up. We girls should learn to understand guys, too.
Most of the time, girls are the jealous ones. Many advices tend to revolve around guys having to broaden their minds and be more sensitive just so they don't get to hurt their girls. Girls must do the same, as well. If you know that you've got a jealous boyfriend, don't do things that would make them even more jealous. To guys, it isn't cute when you purposely make them jealous. It's just irritating. If you want your guy to become sweet, tell them so. Don't make them jealous. It doesn't help at all.
Guys, like girls, are human beings. They make mistakes, we make mistakes. When they do make a mistake, be it a minor or major one, learn to listen to what they have to say. Don't jump on them and avoid saying things that may result to a fall out. Keep a cool head. Talk things over if you must and see where that takes you.
Girls and guys are not that different. We may like different things but when it comes to relationships, the same things (more or less) have to be taken into consideration. When there is a problem, talk things over and iron out your problems. Talking makes a hell of a difference.

  1. Long distance relationships are very hard. I know how this feels. I have been into one for around 3 years. But the good part is that I had the chance to miss my boyfriend. :') Trust should be there too!
