Facebook is the biggest social networking site today. Many of us have created an account in this website so we can connect with our friends, family and other loved ones anywhere in the world. This is a great thing because it helps us save money from making long distance calls and stuff. However, anything will always have its own sets of advantages and disadvantages. For Facebook, the general thought of connecting people is an advantage and a disadvantage at the same time.
How many times have you seen fights posted on Facebook? Quite many, if I say so myself. The site is a public site therefore many people are going to be able to see whatever it is you have posted on your profile, except if you have your page kept private. But generally, the social networking site is a very public place. True, Facebook can be helpful for those people who are apart. They could be kept updated by merely viewing the profile page of the other. Yet there are cases wherein Facebook is blamed for break ups and whatever.
Social networking sites are provided for people to have easier communication with another. Sadly though, there are people who misuse them and use them for the wrong reasons. Some would create fake accounts and pretend to be someone they really are not (or someone they wish they were). There are also those people who create multiple accounts for reasons they alone know. Although having multiple accounts in a single social networking site may be because the person has forgotten his or her password, these number of accounts will confuse people. This will therefore lead to misunderstandings and conflicts.
For those in long distance relationships, be very careful of what you place on your Facebook profile page. Not only will your posts be misinterpreted if misunderstood but this could be a reason for things to end up badly. Before you post something, think closely of what the reaction of others will be. If you want to post something as a joke, be very clear that that thing is a joke. You might say that other people should mind their own business but if you post things in a public website such as Facebook, it is the same as giving people permission to gain access to your private lives. If I were you, I would keep my profile private or be very careful of what I am posting.
So many factors can affect a long distance relationship. Facebook is now one of them. As to the question whether Facebook can bring people closer together or separate them more, it would totally depend how you use the social networking site. It all boils down to you.

Working Out a Long Distance Relationship
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Madel_C_Andales]Madel C Andales
They say that there is only 1% chance that long distance relationships work. It has been said that most couples who are in long distance ends up in a failed relationship. Some works at the first few months or years but eventually the relationship does not last long or serious problems such as third party occurs. However, not all had to have a closing stage. I have met a lot of people who are in long distance relationships. Well, I must say that there are those that really worked out. They ended up getting married and having children. I'd say that they have survived the demands and challenges of what is to be in a long distance status.
One thing that it is very important to consider is that communication should always be constant. It is not that the distance that really keeps one away from each other. It is the absence of communication. Silence makes relationship grew somewhat boring, makes it hazy then later on makes it no longer understood. Both parties no matter how far they are situated should see to it that communication is present. It's pretty hard to relate to someone you barely talk. One thing that keeps the fire burning is that both of you still share each day of your lives even just by merely story-telling the activities you had the whole day. It is impossible to be physically present but at least the physical absence will be somehow filled up by being present through voice or others. Well, at present, there are actually lots of ways to communicate. Social online sites are available. You can even see each other through webcam and talk through using headsets. 'if we try to think about it, if one really wants to make things work, well, it sure will work.
As for my friends what they did was they had exchanged letters. They confessed that it was not that easy. Temptations had occurred when they were of long distance. They had missed each other's company a lot. It was pretty tough and challenging at some point. They had sacrifice a lot. Negative thoughts tried to pull them down but love just seems to conquer it.
Yes, that 1% may be true but if you try to think about it, there's nothing to worry. Have faith that your relationship's gonna work. 1% may be too small compared with the 99% percent but, hey, remember there is still something about that 1%!

Preparing Yourself for Long Distance Relationships
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Lynly_Pioc]Lynly Pioc
Have a look around you. What do you see? People with their cellphones in hand, people using their laptops - people using their various devices. If you take a peek at what they are doing, what would you see? They are probably working, communicating with someone or logging into social networking sites. Now, are you still surprised why the number of long distance relationships have increased?
Starting a long distance relationship sounds fairly easy, but do you just want to jump in and get on the ride? Or would you rather prepare yourself for whatever ups and downs would come along?
First and foremost, look into the things that you need to understand about these kinds of relationships. Like, are you ready to be separated for the most part of your relationship? It is in the name itself - long distance relationship. If you are a person who cannot endure being away from the one you love, then look for a person who isn't far away from you. Because if you do, it is as if you are putting yourself out for emotional suicide.
If you have weighed things out and have decided on getting into such a relationship, prepare yourself emotionally. In a long distance relationship, your emotions are going to take the toll from missing your significant other. Missing them is good but missing them for too long may be another story. As always, too much of something is bad enough.
Aside from preparing yourself emotionally, you also have to have communication channels ready. What good is preparing yourself emotionally if you still are not going to find a way to "lessen" the gap between you and your partner? Communication is going to serve as the bridge between you and them. Without which, the relationship will not be cultivated and may eventually fail.
I don't know if this could count to be part of the emotional preparation, but I would like to stress on this value - patience. Be patient with your partner. Since they are away from us, this gives us the chance to wonder what they are doing, who they are with and the like. If you text them and they don't respond, or if you call them and they don't pick up, wait. They might just be a little busy, who knows, right? Not everyone is going to be available in an instant. Wait for them to contact you back or if they don't, ask them later on why they didn't. A patient man goes a long way in life, mind you.
Some people don't get long distance relationships but they expect to believe in miracles. They don't understand that [http://www.longdistancerelationshipsadvice.net]long distance relationships are miracles if they [http://www.longdistancerelationshipsadvice.net/category/how-to-make-long-distance-relationships-work]work out in the end.

Tips For a Successful Long Distance Relationship
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Raymond_Ehoma]Raymond Ehoma
On a general note, relationships are often difficult to maintain even when the partners live in the same town and even when in the same house. Given this scenario, it becomes even more difficult when distance separate the partners. This distance may be because of one of the partners leaving far away for college, taking up a better job opportunity in another town, state or country, or going an expedition, etc.
Research suggests that long distance relationships do not break up at any greater rate than traditional, geographically close ones. In addition, several studies have discovered that the levels of relationship satisfaction, intimacy, trust, and commitment of long distance relationship partners are identical to those of their geographically close counterparts. However, they might worry more about infidelity, but they do not actually cheat more.
It is also an obvious fact that long distance relationships are much easier when you have known the other person for quite some time before the separation by distance. Those that have spent some months or years in a committed relationship will do fairly better in a long distance relationship as they already have a foundation on which to continue building on as against a new couple starting out afresh.
Long distance relationships are definitely on the rise but that does not mean they are for everyone. For those who really want it to work and are determined to find out where it can lead, developing a few disciplines and adding some creativity like the few listed below into this type of relationship can make all the difference.
Clarify Expectations
What are your expectations in this relationship and what rules do you have in place to guide you to seeing them accomplished. Do not just hope all things will work out right, have goals and a time-frame for their accomplishment. This will give the relationship a hope to live on. Do not push this aside; it is important you have a good plan of where you are both heading with this relationship.
Trust
This is the most important ingredient to make a long distance relationship work. The biggest issue with non-face-to-face communication is the lack of facial expression. This makes it so easy for words to be misinterpreted but unfortunately much harder to trust and stay positive. Since both of you are practically miles apart and apparently leading separate lives, without this element of trust, there is no chance whatsoever of the relationship surviving the turmoil in this kind of relationship.
Be Interested
There must be a sense of true interest in one another. There must be a deep-seated emotional connection between both of you and this is whether you have been together before you separated or you met through some other means like online dating services, email, or online chat rooms. It is not just about the physical attraction, this interest must transcend the ordinary, as it is the foundation of this relationship.
Make Advance Plans on Regular Visitations
Depending on the distance between you, it is advisable to discuss and plan on how often you intend to see each other. For this visit include activities like visiting towns where your partner is in, spending the weekend in fancy hotels, and general activities that will help make the meeting memorable.
Set Ground Rules
There are bound to be differences of opinion and you should anticipate changes in the course of the relationship. It is important you talk through these anticipated challenges and set ground rules for dealing with them from onset of the relationship. When you have these rules in place, it becomes easier to handle these challenges when they arise than when you leave them up to chance.
These rules may include things such as "no flirting while apart", calling or emailing at least once a day or as deem fit by both parties, setting a time to see each other may be once in every one or two months etc. They may not seem necessary and too obvious but it is essential that you both have these agreed upon mutually.
Be Open and Express Yourself Always
While sharing the day-to-day events of things going on in each other lives, try talking about mundane, ordinary happenings, which will help in creating an air of normalcy in the relationship. Chip in details about an appointment you had with a new client, a new route you took to work today because of the traffic, and trivial things such as the turkey sandwich you had for lunch and probably how wonderful they cook at a new restaurant two blocks away from your Aunt Maureen's place.
Send a Handwritten Letter
It is often easier to write more about how one feels than it is to say it most of the time, so occasionally write an extensive and intimate letter to your partner. Write about your inner state, what you are feeling, what you dream about most, a new inspiration or idea you just got, new or interesting poetry just for him or her or other things going on in your life that you feel like sharing.
To be more romantic, you could use a snail mail service to send your writings to your partner and include articles or local stories in the dailies that might be of particular interest to him or her. The beauty of seeing a mail in your mailbox from your loved is just exhilarating, as we have taken emails for granted these days.
Be Committed
Do not go into a long distance relationship if you are not willing to commit to it fully and save yourself the frustration, anger, and pain. The hard truth is that there is no point enduring a long distance relationship if you do not mean it, if you are not fully committed to seeing it succeed.
Enjoy Your Independence
Being apart from your partner should enable you to grow as an individual while feeling and still remaining committed in a relationship. While you may see yourself as "attached" to your significant other, the distance provides room for you to grow and not lose your own identity. The happier you act with your life, the happier you will actually feel.
Continue going about your daily routine and stay busy. Enjoy your time alone and take up activity that will help make the days go fast and thus not having any time to mope.
Be Positive and Have Faith
Bring an air positive thinking into the relationship and focus on the positive aspects of it having faith and confidence in the survival of the relationship. Never make unnecessary assumptions without clarifying from your partner. If you have doubts about any issue do not interpret too much into it, instead call his/her attention to it and clear the air over such an issue.

Long Distance Relationships and Mandarin Chinese
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Sam_C_Reeves]Sam C Reeves
If you have been in a long distance relationship for any length of time you will know, as I do, how hard it can be. It's even harder if the person you are having that relationship with is a Chinese person who's native language is obviously not the same as your own! One of the biggest problems I experienced in the three long-distance relationships I've had, was misunderstandings due to culture-difference, these of themselves caused many sleepless nights on both sides, not to mention pointless arguments and the odd-break up.
The most important thing I found during the time apart was to be able to smooth misunderstandings over, and not create too many waves by exercising some much needed emotional discipline, but emotional discipline is not all you need in order to make sure the Chinese woman/girl in question still maintains her interest in you; in fact, although you may feel you are saying the right things, Mandarin being what it is, and Chinese women's thinking and culture being vastly different from your own, you may not be hitting the right buttons at all! So let's take a look at a few winning techniques that can make sure her interest doesn't wane, or even worse, her attentions don't go elsewhere.
1. Here is one that is always nice to use: 'ju li chansheng mei' or 'absence makes the heart grow fonder'; the closer meaning is actually 'distance creates beauty between people', beauty in this case doesn't particularly mean physical beauty, but can mean a kind of emotional beauty in much the same way as we may say seeing something through 'rose tinted glasses'. Saying this sentence can therefore re-frame the long-distance experience into a romantic one for her, making its' ongoing nature a pleasure rather than a burden.
2. 'Wo zhen xiang ni, wode lao po'(wife). This sentence basically translated means 'I really miss you, my wife'. Now, firstly, you do not need to be actually married in order to be allowed to say this, she may not even have agreed to be your Chinese bride. This is simply a way of showing your girlfriend that your feelings are strong and committed to her. This is really important to Chinese women, and don't worry that this is the same as asking her to marry you, because it's not. I hear Chinese guys and women (women use the term 'lao gong'/husband) saying this to each other all the time, some of those relationships culminate in marriage and some do not. It's simply a cultural difference you can use to your advantage. With the next one we're going to use another great tactic.
3. With this one we're really going to 'amp-up' the emotional feelings: 'Duode nuhai xihuan wo, danshi wo yao ni, bu yao bie de'. This sentence means 'Lots of girls like me (change to 'nan ha' if it's a male), but I want you and no one else'. This is a great sentence for not only conveying a depth of feeling and commitment to her but also demonstrating your value.
Now, you may think you telling her other women are attracted to you is maybe a bit unnecessary, and in a normal relationship where you are together everyday and can see each other, I might agree with you; but you are in a long distance relationship and the main point is to keep her, so you will often need a little bit more than just good old-fashioned love, you may need the good old-fashioned green-eyed monster himself, jealousy. For sure, you will be on her mind for days after, and she'll make sure she puts in the work for you to, instead of going luke-warm.
As well as the above, make sure you don't forget to say 'wo ai ni' (I love you) from time-to-time. I won't advise you to say it every time, as too much of a good thing can be a bad thing, and may reduce desire (in my experience) as opposed to increasing desire in her (which is what you want); once for every four online chats is more than enough!

Distance Makes the Heart Grow Fonder - How to Make a Long Distance Relationship More Exciting
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Jyotika_Mathur]Jyotika Mathur
For many, even the thought of a long distance relationship spells trouble. The moment they become aware of the possibility of physical distance in love, they begin to re-consider the relationship itself. However, distance need not necessarily imply a rift between people. On the contrary, it has been known to draw people closer, or as the saying goes, make the hearts grow even fonder!
If you are wondering how in the world it is possible to becoming fonder of your beau when you are miles apart, you might just be surprised at the various possibilities! The first thing to do is to not think that distance means the end of a relationship. People spend months, maybe even years in different cities, countries or even continents before they can actually begin to spend their lives together.
As old-school as it may seem, writing letters is a technique that somehow never fails. Yes, even in this day and age of emails, it is the snail mail that can be the better messenger system between two yearning hearts. Express yourself through the written word, drawings and any other means of communicating your feelings on paper. Watch how this keeps your love alive and the excitement ongoing even in a long distance relationship.
The joy of receiving that envelop from your beloved can simply not be equaled to that of the numerous emails that you receive in a day!
Keep the thrill factor in your relationship constant by surprising your beloved from time to time. Unexpected gifts or parcels can bring a smile to anyone's face on an otherwise mundane day. Plan surprise visits to your beloved's city. If you live in separate continents, this may require secretive planning, maybe with his or her friends living in the same city.
While keeping the passion and excitement alive in a long distance relationship is important, it is also essential to understand and respect each other's space and environs. The circumstances your beloved lives in, the surroundings, the reasons for this and other factors involved in their being situated where they are need to be understood. This will avoid judgments being made by partners on each other's choices.
It may also work well for a couple to apprise friends and family of their agreement. This may prevent any unintended efforts at match-making that may result from seemingly concerned, yet unknowingly annoying acquaintances and their actions!
With great understanding, elements of surprise thrown in from time to time and the determination to make a relationship work against all odds, physical distance in love can pass even the toughest of challenges.

Maintaining the Sweetness From a Distance
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Lynly_Pioc]Lynly Pioc
Out of a thousand relationships, people expect the couples to remain sweet whenever they are together. If you observe the couples around you though, there are only a few left who stay the same. Sweetness seems to have an expiration and it seems okay. Yet in long distance relationships, sweetness is crucial.
Many people think that distance hinders a lot of things but does it, really? It more likely escalates the feelings of missing your significant other and lessens the thought of physical contact, but it does not hinder things. It just limits them.
So is it possible to maintain the sweetness in a long distance relationship? Sure, why the heck not, right? It's just a matter of looking for ways to keep things going as it was when you weren't apart (for those who have met) and a matter of making it seem that you are always beside them (for those who haven't met).
How do you show your sweetness when you two are both away from each other? Surely this question will pop into the minds of long distance relationship skeptics. These skeptics do not realize that being sweet to a loved one does not necessarily mean having to be physically sweet. The simple use of words could be considered as sweet but sweet talking someone is different from what we mean. Doing small things extraordinarily may even be considered a sweet gesture, like sending your partner a photo montage of you forming a big heart with your pictures and an "I love you" to boot.
Some guys may think that this is a cheesy way of showing a girl your affection but when you actually do this, it will really make your girl smile. You do not have to spend much to get them to think highly of you (though it depends on what kind of girl you are dating), all you need to do is something that will tug at their heart and make them smile at the same time. Women are simple - we just want to feel that we are loved back.
Long distance relationships should not be made as an excuse not to be sweet to your special someone. There are many ways that you can employ just so that sweetness could be instilled. Romantic gestures would most probably be the most commonly sought actions but they do not really get old and still work.
Some couples don't think that they need [http://www.longdistancerelationshipsadvice.net]long distance relationship advice. Maybe they don't, but if they need to [http://www.longdistancerelationshipsadvice.net/category/how-to-make-long-distance-relationships-work]make their relationship work, it's worth a try opening their minds to a few of these advices.

Essential Tips on Maintaining a Long-Distance Relationship
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Dmitry_Fedosev]Dmitry Fedosev
It is not easy to maintain a healthy relationship with your boyfriend or girlfriend if the communication between the two of you is not good. It becomes even more difficult if the relation is a long-distance one. Communication is the only thing that can make this kind of relationship go on a steady phase. No matter how far you are from each other, if you are in touch with your loved one on a regular basis, you will surely be able to build a strong relationship.
A long-distance relationship can start when you or your loved one or both of you decide to move to different city to pursue your career or some other professional or family commitments. If you are a part of a long-distance relationship, the only thing you must focus on is communication. To start with, you can regularly stay in touch with your boyfriend or girlfriend through phone. However, this may not seem to be a good option when your partner is in a different country. In such situations, you can still speak to him or her through calls over the internet by using software like Skype.
If you have a steady internet connection, you can use chatting as a medium for communication. However, when you chat anything private make sure nobody is around. This way you can have a healthy romantic chat. If chatting is not possible, you can stay in touch with your partner through email. Exchanging emails can appear to be slow but still it helps in avoiding the communication gap.
Some people may not have access to the internet or may not have a computer to communicate with their beloved one. In such cases, they can try using the internet service on their phone and make use of application such as Fring, Skype, Nimbuzz, email clients, etc, to do voice chat, live chat and email.
One of the most important factors required for maintaining long-distance relationship is to trust your partner. You may not be able to see him or her for months or a year or two. So, when you communicate with him or her, do not be inquisitive about her whereabouts. Do not show as if you are doubting on her. This can have a negative impact on the relation. Do not accuse her for anything or demand answers. Instead you need to show more trust to her so that she can also trust you more. Lastly, whenever you get chance to meet each other physically, make sure you most of your time for each other and plan well in advance to have a wonderful time.

LDR 101 For Girls - Dealing With Guys
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Lynly_Pioc]Lynly Pioc
In long distance relationships, we almost always hear advices that are mostly geared towards the girls. Or did you not notice it? Probably this time you have realized it. Are you wondering why this is so? This is probably because the girls are most of the time the ones seeking advice about relationships. More often than not, girls tend to "offer more" in relationships than men.
So yes, it has long been a stereotype that the girls are the ones who "have it difficult" in relationships. Some say that guys have it easy while most would say that guys essentially "don't care", as long as they have won over the girl they like. It may seem stereotypical and biased as I am a girl, but people aren't wrong when they say that. They've got some basis, after all. However, this is not applicable to every single guy out there.
Even though we've got this perception that girls care as much about relationships the same way guys care about cars, it doesn't mean to say that guys do not put value into their relationships. They actually do. They're just not too showy about it.
Like the guys, we should take into consideration a few things when getting into a long distance relationship. For instance, guys get told off to be more patient with girls whenever we're getting a little bit cranky. Maybe it's just their period, some might say. Girls, on the other hand, impose that very same excuse (because at times, that's what it really is) to get the guys to shut up. We girls should learn to understand guys, too.
Most of the time, girls are the jealous ones. Many advices tend to revolve around guys having to broaden their minds and be more sensitive just so they don't get to hurt their girls. Girls must do the same, as well. If you know that you've got a jealous boyfriend, don't do things that would make them even more jealous. To guys, it isn't cute when you purposely make them jealous. It's just irritating. If you want your guy to become sweet, tell them so. Don't make them jealous. It doesn't help at all.
Guys, like girls, are human beings. They make mistakes, we make mistakes. When they do make a mistake, be it a minor or major one, learn to listen to what they have to say. Don't jump on them and avoid saying things that may result to a fall out. Keep a cool head. Talk things over if you must and see where that takes you.
Girls and guys are not that different. We may like different things but when it comes to relationships, the same things (more or less) have to be taken into consideration. When there is a problem, talk things over and iron out your problems. Talking makes a hell of a difference.

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Lynly_Pioc]Lynly Pioc
We have heard so many people say that they are not going to go for long distance relationships because of the simple fact that they can't spend time with the other. Although we may say that it's the physical togetherness that is being meant, we just can't help to point out the number of things we can do with our significant other even when at a distance.
For example, couples in short distance relationships have the luxury of spending time with each other by going out to watch a movie. Couples in distance relationships, on the other hand, dream that they can do the same. Couples in LDRs are in luck though! There already are ways for these couples to "virtually" enjoy the company of the other without physically being there.
1. Watch movies together - ONLINE! So you think only those who live close to one another can enjoy the fun of watching movies together? Think again! Those in long distance relationships can now do all that thanks to the world wide web. This way, you guys can talk about the movie you just watched. Plus, it gives you quality time together.
2. Take pictures and hit send. The next best thing to seeing the person you love personally is by looking at their picture. For these couples who do not see each other as frequently as they would want, this is the best alternative. This way, you get to see their face somehow.
If you can send your partner a video of yourself once in a week, that will be great! Seeing you moving makes you seem closer to them.
3. Play a game together. Adults need to give time for games too, you know. Going online and playing a game together will help keep your relationship interesting. Just be sure to be a good sport or you'll just end up fighting.
4. Get married! Not literally, though. You and your partner can go online and get married virtually. Log on to Virtual Wedding Chapel and see how much fun you can get. You can even propose to your partner, get married (with a witness!) and take pictures of the whole event! Be sure not to get late or you're going to have to wait for another time. Trust me, it's going to be fun for the both of you.
5. Go virtual. With the technology today, there's just so many things you can do. Since you both can't be together right now, you might want to go on a virtual vacation together. Using 360Cities, you are going to be on a perfect and free trip with your loved one.
You may also want to see your partner walk by with the use of live public webcams. This may sound a little childish but who knows how much this simple act could move a person.
These are just five of the many many things that long distance couples could do to lessen the gap between both of them. You guys need to explore and see what works for you both. Be creative and have fun!
Not everyone is capable of being in a [http://www.longdistancerelationshipsadvice.net/long-distance-love/long-distance-love]long distance relationship because not everyone is prepared. Yet you can help prepare yourself by getting [http://www.longdistancerelationshipsadvice.net]long distance relationship advice. If you both make the effort, you're surely going to get what you deserve.

The Role Of Digital Technology In Long Distance Relationships
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Han_Hwee_Yeo]Han Hwee Yeo
I was involved in a long distance relationship for about 2 years. Let's call her Gwen. She was a cousin of my friend but grew up in the US. She was born here in Singapore but moved over when she was 5 years old.
She added me on Facebook and we talked online several times. We met up a few times when she would come back to Singapore for trips to see relatives and such.
Gwen was special. I never got along so well with a girl. It was a case of where we clicked from the first moment we started to talk. I felt no fear, no shyness and no lack of confidence. I could be me and not try to impress her. She understood and laughed at whatever lame jokes I cracked. Similarly, I found her to be a smart, funny and an attractive girl. Soon enough, I started going on Facebook 24/7 hoping to catch her online so that we could chat.
But long distance relationships are the hardest of all. I asked several friends about their experiences. A friend's older sister, Cecilia, studied in Perth, Western Australia about 12 years ago. She said that it was difficult. Back in her day, she had email and ICQ. But it was on a 56k dial up modem so it was very, very slow. The school's computer lab was running on IBM machines with MS-DOS software, not even Windows.
Digital cameras were around but they were beyond what a constantly broke student could afford. So her boyfriend had to develop photos the old fashioned way and send them to her via snail mail.
But now in present day, all cellphones have cameras and you can immediately take a photo and send it via "whatsapp". Everyone has a Facebook account and a webcam is standard with every laptop. Skype lets you make phone calls for free. There are even websites like View2gether and SeeToo that let couples view photos and videos in real time.
I know of a couple that celebrated via webcam. The boyfriend bought ordered a cake and blew out the candle for his girlfriend on Skype. So in a way, technology has made long distance relationships a whole lot easier to bear.
But although there are technologies and platforms that let you stay connected, it doesn't necessarily mean you communicate better. Cecilia mentions that since she had to be so frugal back when she was a student, she really looked forward and treasure those phone calls with her boyfriend. They were forced to communicate better. "We didn't want to waste time arguing," she says.
Another thing I realized that although I could see Gwen, say "hi" and hear her voice, I couldn't reach out and touch her, give her a hug nor feel her skin on mine. I could not physically be there for her when she needed me the most. The simple things that most couples take for granted were denied to us.
Technology is not the answer. Some couples in long distance relationships are still going strong but Gwen and I have broken up. There is no substitute for the effort, patience and time that needs to be invested in a relationship to make it flourish. So far, there is no technology that can help you out on that.

Long Distance Relationships and Jealousy
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Pamela_Descallar]Pamela Descallar
Oftentimes, jealousy roots out because of the lack of time a person gives back to a partner in one's relationship. It has always been a part of a relationship manual to always give time for one another. Missing out that idea might cause some malfunction in your relationship and would need a lot of troubleshooting. But of course, one's life doesn't revolve to intimate relationships only. There are times that one has to go out to their comfort zones to be able to grow even if this calls for leaving the place they grew up with and leaving the people they love. One has to be prepared to face this chapter in life.
But not everyone around could understand this. The act of leaving might just cause another problem to rise. Romantic relationships are the one's most affected with the new adjustment done. For most couples who have been together for years, letting their loved one go is tough to handle. Just imagine your partner being away from you for months and even years. It would be difficult to change your pattern of lifestyle. And it is most difficult to not see that person every time. But long distance relationships happen not for the worse. If a person may have to leave, it would entail finding for greener pastures or some reason which is still worthwhile in the end. Most of the rough road is on how to bear with the loneliness for that period of time.
Yet, the most common problem a person would face on that road is the lack of time and attention for the relationship. Jealousy in relationships is expected in long distance relationships. Because of the lack of time for the other, it cannot be avoided that doubts and unwanted thoughts would come to mind. Being not able to see your significant other all the time is one way to keep your thoughts running of what could have been happening on the other line. And humans as we are, our imaginations reach to its highest point. Though we can control what we should think, not everyone can pass that hurdle. Thus, they are being trapped on that rough road along the course of the relationship. Having affairs with someone else while being away is a frequent reason for break ups in long distance relationships. Though some are real and some don't happen, it is given that being sad and lonely usually resorts in finding comfort at the moment with someone else.
Of course, it has always been a wrong behavior. It could actually be avoided if the communication in the relationship has been clear and constant. Jealousy in relationships could be avoided and extra affairs would not occur if couples in a long distance relationship have known how to handle each other in times like these.

Putting Your Heart On The Line (Long Distance Relationships)
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Lynly_Pioc]Lynly Pioc
Can you ever imagine being separated from the person you love the most in the world? Could you stand being away from them for a week or two? Do you and your partner have that strong sense of trust for each other even if you don't seen one another that frequently? If you answered yes to most of these questions, then you may probably be ready to be in a long distance relationship. If you have some "no" answers, you might want to do a double take before you get into that kind of relationship.
Some people make it look so easy to be in a long distance relationship. They may appear that they have all the time in the world for themselves and for their wants because their significant other is not around but then again, some people are just got actors. Or, they just know how to deal with such relationships. Not everyone knows that little secret. Lucky are those who were let in on that secret.
Not many people who jump into distance relationships realize what they're getting into. Sometimes, they're just in it for the ride and not for the possible barfing sessions that come after. Most people who are (or have been) in these kinds of relationships know its ups and downs. They may convince their friends and their family that being in a long distance relationship is easy when it's not.
Before you put your heart on the line, especially on a very long line like in long distance relationships, you should try weighing things out. Don't go jumping head first without looking. Let us go back to the questions mentioned above. First of all, consider the fact that this relationship deals with the distance. If you cannot imagine yourself being away from him or her, might as well not take the risk of getting into this kind of relationship.
Moving on to the next question. If you are a person who cannot stand being away from the one they love for a week or two weeks at most, then you are seriously not going to like being in a long distance relationship. Probably the minimum number of days that people in these relationships are going to spend apart is a month. But this will totally be on a case to case basis. Bottom line is, you're probably going to break before the month ends.
Also, if you and your partner are two people who do not have enough trust in each other, then forget being in a long distance relationship. You both are just going to torture yourselves with all the paranoia.
If you think you can't stand being in this similar situation for so long, by all means, don't force yourself to be in one. It would be best for the both of you if didn't get into one in the first place. LDRs are difficult. If you plan to be in one, you have to have a strong will and determination to see it through until the end.
Many people are skeptics of [http://www.longdistancerelationshipsadvice.net/long-distance-love/long-distance-love]long distance relationships. What these people do not know is that with the right [http://www.longdistancerelationshipsadvice.net]long distance relationship advice, couples involved in the relationship are going to achieve their desired goal.

Mail Order Bride Profile Fraud, Know the Warning Signs
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Toi_Promma]Toi Promma
When people are "shopping" dating sites, they look at the selection of women featured on the site. The more attractive members the site has, the more likely it is that someone will join the site. So the battle between sites for attractive profiles is sort of like an "Arms Race". As much as competition as there is in the industry, the only definite loser in the equation are the clients who fork over thousands of dollars to "chat" or travel to meet women that don't exist. So it's important to know what to look for when considering joining a site.
In an effort to beat another site, many agencies simply surf the internet looking for photos of good looking women. Once they find someone they think will help "sell" the site, they will download the photo and apply a watermark, as if to say all of their profiles are "legitimate". One egregious example of profile fraud recently made the news all over Europe. Cheryl Cole, a famous UK pop star and a judge on "X-Factor", appeared on a mail order bride site from Eastern Europe. Obviously, Ms. Cole was unaware of this until it hit the news and sadly for her, there was little she could do as the agency prosecuted since they were based in a foreign country.
Another great tool for agencies in their effort to fool the public is PhotoShop. For those of you who may be unfamiliar with it, Photoshop is a software tool used to alter pictures and is an illegitimate agency's best friend. With Photoshop, you can take a middle aged women with bad teeth and make her look like a Hollywood starlet. It's really that powerful and nearly impossible to detect. However, a good test is to ask yourself if the picture looks like it was taken by a professional. If it doesn't look like the type of picture you would see on a Match.com, Yahoo Personals, or eHarmony, it's phony in one form or fashion.
Remember, the countries that mail order bride agencies are usually based in are working with women who don't have much money, so how can they afford professional photographers? If the agencies are paying the bill, than the site's not about relationships, it's about making money and getting women visas.
Another technique is to overwhelm men with profiles. One major romance tour company makes the claim that it has over 40,000 members that were selected from over 600,000 applicants...really?!! First of all, there simply would not be enough people to interview that many women, secondly, this number tells me that the agency is not removing old profiles, they are simply continuing to add to the profiles month after month. If you need any proof, go on to YouTube and search for "Mail order brides, scams" and you'll see a 9:59 video that will verify our statement.
Remember, look for "typical" pictures, not ones that look professionally taken and for additional information, read about profile fraud on the trusted [http://thaivalentine.com/famous-celebrity-appears-mail-order-bride-site]Mail Order Bride Source.

Great Ways To Make Long Distance Relationships Work
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Matt_R_Greene]Matt R Greene
Any relationship takes work; however a long distance relationship can be trickier. To make a long distance work, both parties need to be on the same page. You both need to have the same desire and commitment to want to stay together, regardless of what distance stands between you. This is because if one of you isn't as committed as the other, then the relationship is likely to break down. You also need trust.
So if you are entering into a long distance relationship, instead of worrying negatively about whether it will work out or not, take the positive approach and discuss how you are both going to make it succeed! Here are a just a few tips for making long distance relationships work.
Right from the beginning you both need to establish some guidelines - these must be set out and agreed on by both of you. There is no use one person dictating how the relationship is going to work, as this shows no regard for the other partners concerns. Discuss the barriers of your relationship, how often you are going to communicate, and set dates for when you are both able to visit each other. The biggest tip for making a long distance relationship successful is to communicate. This may sound obvious, but it's surprising how some people struggle to do so, and with a long distance relationship, this is even more important.
Make arrangements to text, email or phone each other on a regular basis and learn to express yourself as clearly as possible in your communication. When you can't physically see someone it can be hard to understand the emotions they are trying to convey, which can lead to misunderstandings. So you need to be honest with your words, both written and verbal, otherwise you will begin to lose trust in each other and insecurities will start to creep in - and when that happens the relationship will be in danger.
