By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Petra_E_McDermott]Petra E McDermott
Being in a long distance relationship can be an effective way to ensure both parties have the space they need and never feel the pressure of spending too much time together.
The saying "Familiarity breeds contempt" is not famous for nothing.
Being in a relationship where you see each other day in and day out can be more stressful simply because you get to notice your partners habits a lot quicker than if you were living apart.
You can take your time and slowly reveal yourself to your other half as and when it suits you during your weekly or bi weekly rendezvous which can be exciting because it keeps both parties on their toes.
When you know your partner inside out there are no surprises.
The desire to meet up after work quickly fades and you can easily slip into a boring routine without realising and before you know it someone is usually complaining that you don't do anything as a couple anyone.
As with all relationships long distance relationships do have their problems.
One of the main issues that cause problems within these types of relationship is the distance.
Depending on how far apart you and your partner are and how often you dedicate time to get together distance can become an issue simply because there is no guarantee that the other party isn't playing away.
The thought of this often causes insecurities within the relationship simply because the ability to be there when something unexpectedly good or bad happens is not there.
There are no late night trips to the cinema at the very last minute or grabbing a quick bite to eat after work opportunities.
Everything becomes a part of a schedule and this can lead a partner to believe the other party may be going elsewhere in order to get such attention.
As with all relationships communication is the key for sure.
If you decide to give a long distance relationship a go be prepared for the fact that there are going to be times when you miss your partner so much that you feel like you are going out of your mind.
Understand that there schedule is probably going to be slightly different to yours and due to this they may not always be available when you are.
You must talk to your partner about what you expect from each other.
Expression of feelings is more important in these types of relationships due to the lack of ability to be with each other.
Make use of the amazing technology we have access to in this day and age.
Instant messaging & Skype are very popular ways to keep in contact with loved ones both abroad and in local areas.
They are also an intimate way to have contact with your partner during a long distance relationship and can be used on most internet ready phones these days.
Long distance relationships are something that require a great deal of thought before any decision should be made.
Obviously if you are the jealous type then it probably isn't a good idea to be in this type of relationship because there will most definitely be trust issues involved.
However, If you like the sound of having the space to breath and don't mind being away from your partner for long periods of time then maybe you should consider giving a long distance relationship a go.
After all, what doesn't suit one could certainly suit another.
